Company History

Manhattan American Terrazzo Strip Company was established when Manhattan Terrazzo Strip (begun in 1921) purchased American Terrazzo of Niagara Falls, New York in 1972. The new company was based in Niagara Falls until 1976 when it was moved to Staley, North Carolina. In 1982 the company purchased the inventory and machinery of the Rudel Strip Company.

In 1983 the company moved to its current building in Staley and added space to this building in 1987. In 1990 the company began making terrazzo floor designs in-house. A new office area was added in 1992.

From October of 1976 to November of 1988 Southern Stone owned the company. The Platt Brothers and Company of Waterbury, Connecticut has owned the company since December of 1988.

Manhattan American Terrazzo Strip Company produces strip for use in terrazzo floors and designs. We also create terrazzo designs in-house using strip and/or solid metal or plastic that is cut by water jet.
